What does being a mentor mean?

You show the talented status holder (woman/man) the way on the Dutch labor market; You share your knowledge, experience and network with your Mentee; You help your Mentee to focus; You ensure that your Mentee is back in his/her strength coming!

And besides…:

Do you gain more skills in coaching and mentoring yourself; Do you expand your network and learn from others; Are there regular meetings where mentors share experiences; Can you participate in the activities of local women's networks (e.g. Atlasbridges Mega Network). Are you interested in becoming a mentor? And ready to give a job-seeker, talented status holder (woman/man), great opportunities, connections and visibility on the labor market? • Want to know more about mentorship?

Are you thinking about becoming a mentor at Status Holders (super!), but are you still in doubt? Read some important frequently asked questions here. Do you have more questions or is something not clear? Then you can always call or email Said El Amraoui, responsible mentoring programs: info@statushouders.org | 06 428 149 41. We hope to welcome you soon in our rich network with great opportunities, inspiring encounters and exciting times!

  • How long does the mentorship last?

The mentorship lasts for three months. The mentee follows the empowerment, network and job application training program of three months. The guidance of a mentor runs roughly parallel to this (in week 2 you will be linked). It is great if you can put into practice the theory that the mentee learns during the training sessions. You will receive all information and content about this when you are linked.

  • How often do I meet with my mentee?

You are supposed to meet 'live' about 6 times in the period of three months. The other times you can contact by phone / mail / what's app.

  • How much time does a mentorship cost me?

Of course, that differs per person and per mentee you supervise. Assume that you will need a little more time in the beginning, as the two of you need to get to know each other. This will equate to an average of 1 hour per week. Together with the mentee you make agreements about the duration of your meetings and the regularity. This is very important for both so that there is the same expectation.

  • Can I choose from which program I want to supervise a mentee?

Our network serves various jobseekers female and male target groups. These are often status holders, young women and men seeking work, single mothers or women and men who have been on welfare for a while. When you register as a mentor, you can indicate for which target group you want to be a mentor. We will arrange the person to whom you will eventually be linked.

  • How and by whom am I linked to a mentee?

Before you are paired, we want to get to know you first. We regularly organize mentor evenings, often before the start of a new project. It is nice if you are present so that we can meet. The evenings always have a different theme and are a time to ask questions, get/give tips, share experiences and meet other mentors. Are you unable to attend this? Then we will make a telephone appointment with you to get acquainted!

  • What is my expectation as a mentor?

It is partly up to you to help the mentee move forward with matters related to finding work. Prior to the guidance you will receive a checklist with things you can do/discuss with her anyway, such as making a good CV, looking for companies and having contacts or her diploma validated. It would also be great if you could make your network available or make it visible in our network, because our vision is that you will get a job faster through networking! In addition, you can help your mentee practice a pitch, offer a listening ear and help with focusing and making choices. You are of course not alone in all of this. Staus holders in the Netherlands, the trainers, the coordinator and the client managers are also all busy making strides in the Dutch labor market.
