Arrived in the Netherlands

When you have arrived in the Netherlands, you must register in Ter Apel as soon as possible in order to receive protection in the Netherlands.

  • Upon arrival in the Netherlands you will have to deal with the following steps:

      Application IND Registration with the aliens police.TB and medical examination.Going through the general asylum procedure (see video below)

  • You will receive one of the following decisions:

      You will receive a temporary asylum residence permit. The IND needs more time to make a decision. You will not receive a residence permit

  • If you have submitted an asylum application.

    The asylum application can take from a few weeks to a few months. After the asylum application you will receive a decision. You may stay in the Netherlands or you may not stay in the Netherlands.

We advise you:

During your interrogation with the aliens police, be clear in your answers. This prevents possible problems for later. Make sure you have all important documents for yourself and your family members with you. Such as birth, baptism and marriage certificates.
