SOURCE OF DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION
Promising professions
The Netherlands and UWV show which professions currently (mid-2024) offer more than sufficient to good job opportunities:
- Although the tightness in the labor market appears to have peaked, demand for personnel still exceeds supply. The labor market will remain extremely tight in 2024, and this will likely remain the case for the foreseeable future.
- Many organizations are facing staff shortages and are desperately looking for new employees. However, there are differences between sectors, making it important to highlight where current opportunities exist for job seekers.
- The overview of promising professions is based on figures from recent months, focusing primarily on the ratio of vacancies to job seekers.
- This is a national overview of promising professions. However, there may be differences between regions. Therefore, please check with us and our partners in your region to see if there are sufficient vacancies.
- Occupations with a high self-employment rate are not included in this publication. Supply and demand are not clearly defined for these. Occupations with very limited working hours or primarily secondary job opportunities are also not included.
- Many professions in this overview require specific knowledge. Often, a short or longer training course is necessary. Sometimes a certificate is sufficient. In those cases, transitioning is relatively easy. The Learning and Work Desk offers career advice and can advise on (re)training options. Contact a Learning and Work Desk in your region for more information.
- The labor market is constantly evolving, as are job opportunities in various professions. That's why the UWV publishes a publication every year about promising professions, which we, in turn, distribute.
